  • Product Overview

    Landmark's digital archive is the UK's largest, comprising of over 1 million historical maps, covering England, Wales and Scotland. Sourced from the top three archives, the historical maps give a complete step-by-step picture of land use changes that have occurred between the 1840s and the present day.

  • Product Information

    Historical Maps are available in digital format (World, Geotiff and TAB) through our Envirocheck Export service, or in report format as PDFs or hard copies. Electronic files will be delivered within three hours of purchase and hard copies will be delivered within 24 hours if ordered before 12pm.

  • Product Specification

    The Envirocheck Historical Maps product is split into a three-tiered offer giving you the option to purchase a Basic, Essential, or Premium version of the product. All of the mapping listed below will be available in Historical Maps however the availability of the 10K Colour Raster Maps will be dependent on your product option selection.

    The standard Historical Map Pack contains:

    • County Series c.1843 to c.1948; 1:2,500 & 1:10,560.
    • National Grid Series c.1950 to c.1995; 1:1,250, 1:2,500 & 1:10,000.
    • SIMs, SUSIs & Large-Scale National Grid Data (Superplans) c.1947 to c.1998; 1:1,250 & 1:2,500 – 443,477 more maps available than any other online provider.
    • Historical Town Plans c.1848 to c.1910; 1:500, 1:528, 1:1,056, 1:2,640 and 1:5,280 – Produced from the survey of towns with a population of over 4,000, these maps highlight historical uses which may be potentially contaminative including features of sanitary interest such as privies, taps, cow houses, cess pits, brew and bake houses, cart sheds and stables, plus divisions between tenements, interior ground floor layout of public buildings and functions of larger industrial premises.
    • Historical Building Plans c.1886 to c.1970; approximate scale 1:500 – Over 10,000 information rich, detailed, colour plans of 54 UK towns and cities, ideal for identifying previous occupants of buildings and past land uses, with detailed information including; building materials, industrial building uses, on-site tanks, engines, stores and asbestos. Please note that Historical Building Plans are only available with the Essential and Premium Historic Map report.
    • Russian Military Mapping c.1950 to c.1997; 1:5,000, 1:10,000 and 1:25,000 – Russian spy maps of the UK produced by the KGB during the Cold War, covering 103 UK towns and cities and showing features not present on Ordnance Survey maps including extra quarries, pits, military features and warehouses.
    • Historical Aerial Photographs c.1944 to c.1951; 1:1,250 and 1:10,560.

     

    Depending on the product option selected within Historical Maps i.e. Basic, Essential or Premium, the range of 10K Colour Raster maps will vary:

    Premium - 3 x OS 1:10,000 Colour Raster Maps - 1999, 2006 and 2011 layers. 

    Essential - 1 x OS 1:10,000 Colour Raster Map - 2011 layer and your choice of either the 1999 or 2006 OS 1:10,000 Colour Raster Map layer. 

    Basic - 1 x OS 1:10,000 Colour Raster Map - 2011 layer.

    N.B: If you intend to purchase Envirocheck Analysis, please be aware that the product option you select within Envirocheck Historical Maps will automatically be selected within Envirocheck Analysis.
